A thrifty find and a peek at our house

So I found the sweetest little chair at Good Will yesterday.
I was searching through the furniture and there she was...
Like an old washed-up beauty queen from the 80's. Too much blue eyeshadow and a bit...wider... than the other younger, slimmer gals.
She was blue, painted over red, painted over lots of kid's stickers. Here's after I started tackling it all with some cream colored paint. I didn't have any primer handy but this did the trick, after two long coats. All those curved spindles took forever.

I think she's going to fit in just fine around here.
But I've only left her cream out of laziness. I want to paint her a fun color or maybe do stripes on the seat, but I'm not sure what to do yet. I was going to ask for your opinions, but I realized you don't know what my house looks like so it would be hard to pick a color. So here's a few snippets of our downstairs...living room, dining room and breakfast nook.

So what color would you pick for my chair?
Blue? Gray? Green?

Birmingham House Tour...

I'm so enamored with this family home in Birmingham, Alabama. Designed by Dana Wolter (if you like this house, you definitely have to go check out her other spaces), I think it's such a beautiful mix of cozy, livable spaces, and modern touches mixed with traditional symmetry and elegance. Love. It.

(apologies for the redundant tags after each picture...her site attaches them to each one)

Definitely of note are the gorgeous modern art paintings in every single room, the way the family portraits are hung from delicate chains near the stairs, and that huge statement headboard in the master. I also love an all-neutral house, and Wolter hit just the right notes to make it soothing but far from boring.
Gorgeous, right?

Oh the pressure...of a name...

Is it completely ridiculous that sometimes I'll sit down to blog and then decide not to because I can't think up a title?

(but 100 points shall be given to you if you know what movie that title is from)

Here's a little of this and a dash of that...

Things have been clunking right along for us. I'm really thankful that Wes' treatment for TN seems to have helped. He still is having pain in one area, but we're hoping the nerve will continue to heal over the next few weeks and bring even more relief.

This wiley, wig-wearing little minx managed to pulled a super heavy dresser over onto herself on Saturday night, and only by the grace of God did she escape with just a bruised and sore leg.

We took her to get x-rays just in case, because I didn't see how her leg could be in once piece. That dresser is insanely heavy and I never thought it could tip over. Huge parenting fail, and we're in the process of bolting everything to the walls now. Everything. If you come over to visit, don't stand in one place for too long.

*******************************
Juliette went 5 days without waking up at night. I really thought we had made it. Almost 11 months old, she would finally sleep through the night...

She woke up 3 times last night just to make up for lost time.

*******************************
I'm working on some really fun and challenging design projects, both at my own house and someone else's...

 *****************************

I'm also doing the dessert table for the wedding of a super sweet couple from church. Here's my plan...and I'll show you pics of it all done on the big day...
Trying not to take such long breaks from writing!  Be back soon... xoxo

Esty love...oh, baby

I have so many friends either pregnant, recently having had babies, or getting married and hopefully getting their baby makin' on, pronto...So I've been trolling Etsy looking for some sweet baby goods.

Take a gander.

guys..you have to go check out Little Sapling...
too many amazing, beautiful wooden toys to choose from

All of these shops had so many other cute things too. It was hard to choose just one thing to highlight.
If you need a baby gift for someone, or something for your own little muffin, go check them out.

{I wasn't perk'd in any way, and I don't know any of these shop owners. They're just all great finds! Enjoy!}

Of weddings and such...

Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!
We've wrapped up our time out of town where my husband was getting treatment...(you can read about that here) and drove back home Friday. He wasn't able to get the results we were hoping for, so he'll be commuting back and forth for yet another week. A bummer, but hopefully this third week will start to show results.

We got back to our house with just a few hours to spare to get ready for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Wes was a groomsman for two dear friends, Jennifer and Brian.
We had a private room in the back of a great restaurant here in Charleston called Zen Asian Fusion.
They have fantastic sushi.

Or so say the sushi eaters. I don't do things that swim. Or float. But I can tell you with absolute certainty that everything non-fishy is delish.

It's really not impressive from the outside, but the inside is pretty swanky with a lounge type vibe.
***************************

Saturday was the wedding and even though it was a bit of a monsoon, the sweet bride was all the sunshine we needed! Aren't her bridal portraits gorgeous?!

They put such thought into the details...they even hired babysitters and had a separate room set up at the reception location for kids to play. They bought toys, games, movies and even had the caterers do a mini food table in the room with PB&J, chicken nuggets, fruit and kid friendly deserts. Such an awesome thing to do for guests with kids...we were able to relax and have fun knowing the girls were having a good time too.

She changed into a sweet little blue number halfway through...

They had a photo booth. Ridiculous fun. Enough said.

 With some besties : )

With the fam...Charlotte loved it. Poor Juliette was exhausted
and failed to see the humor in the situation.

Rats! I held the 'love' sign backwards.
pimps and sailors. that's how we roll.

A jolly little weekend.
See you tomorrow with an Etsy roundup of a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e baby goods.
xoxo
