blowing off the dust

Bit of a writing lull lately.
Entire seasons have gone by. Kardashians have gotten divorced. Housewives of B.H. have surely had more bouts with botox. I just keep going down the rabbit hole...finding a new amazing blog, which leads me to another great blog, which leads me to another, which leads me to piles of clean laundry not put away and children interrupting my browsing to demand things like food, water, and clean diapers. geez. needy.

So, to recap...there's too much to recap. Moving onward and upward.

We're finally painting all the upstairs rooms, one at a time. We've been in this house for 3 years now, and I swore I wasn't going to be one of those people who moves in and says "we're going to paint everything really soon!" and then lives with half-finished walls and color sample squares up for the rest of their lives. But then life happened and I am one of those people. Sigh.

The office is done. check.
Our bedroom is half done. half check. And the way I left off makes it look like a giant phallus of gray-blue paint is sprouting up from the ground towards the ceiling. Not on purpose. It's haunting my dreams and I will finish tomorrow.

We also finally put together a plan for the little powder room. Here it is, coming at you. bam.
powder room-our house I'm pretty much obsessed with the floors. And I'm having a bit of a gold moment.
I just really like how the warmth of the gold mirror and frames
play off the cooler gray and white of everything else.
I think every room in a home should have something sentimental in it.
Something that makes it yours.
So inside the antique frames are paintings done by Wes' grandmother.

Good Chat. We'll talk again soon.

gray and yellow living room

Here's an e-design I finished for a client....a comfy living room with shots of cheerful yellow.
Almost everything is around the $50 mark or much less! The chair is the priciest...but even it was a sale item, for less than $300.

family pics in the park

The hour leading up to this quick photo shoot in downtown charleston was a disaster in every possible sense.
We woke up late, had 20 minutes to get ready, had 3 outfit changes, 4 total meltdowns from Charlotte about said outfit changes, 0 breakfasts eaten, no time to do anyone's hair, make up done in the speeding car, and maybe or maybe not one leg shaved only in the front.
But 20 years from now when we look at the pictures I don't think that's what we'll remember about that day.

(all pictures taken by amazing photographer and friend Kimmie, of Zoom Photography. When she's not holding babies and spreading love in Africa, she's here locally in Charleston if anyone has need of her talents.)

(borrowed) Thoughts on Thursday

"Through a course of events, we came to believe that this is the truest truth:

"If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it."
Matthew 10-:39

I mean, I thought my life was pretty fantastic already, and come to find out I hadn't even found it.
It made me want to track it down"

Design Projects: a guest bath remodel

Thought I'd share...
This is a guest bath design plan for a client I'm working with.
They want clean and bright...classic designs with just a whisper of more modern elements.
I love the large scale carrara marble they've chosen for the shower, and the timeless basket-weave tiles in matching carrara and black for the floor are amaaazing in person.    Happy Weekend!
