blowing off the dust

Bit of a writing lull lately.
Entire seasons have gone by. Kardashians have gotten divorced. Housewives of B.H. have surely had more bouts with botox. I just keep going down the rabbit hole...finding a new amazing blog, which leads me to another great blog, which leads me to another, which leads me to piles of clean laundry not put away and children interrupting my browsing to demand things like food, water, and clean diapers. geez. needy.

So, to recap...there's too much to recap. Moving onward and upward.

We're finally painting all the upstairs rooms, one at a time. We've been in this house for 3 years now, and I swore I wasn't going to be one of those people who moves in and says "we're going to paint everything really soon!" and then lives with half-finished walls and color sample squares up for the rest of their lives. But then life happened and I am one of those people. Sigh.

The office is done. check.
Our bedroom is half done. half check. And the way I left off makes it look like a giant phallus of gray-blue paint is sprouting up from the ground towards the ceiling. Not on purpose. It's haunting my dreams and I will finish tomorrow.

We also finally put together a plan for the little powder room. Here it is, coming at you. bam.
powder room-our house I'm pretty much obsessed with the floors. And I'm having a bit of a gold moment.
I just really like how the warmth of the gold mirror and frames
play off the cooler gray and white of everything else.
I think every room in a home should have something sentimental in it.
Something that makes it yours.
So inside the antique frames are paintings done by Wes' grandmother.

Good Chat. We'll talk again soon.

Design Projects: a guest bath remodel

Thought I'd share...
This is a guest bath design plan for a client I'm working with.
They want clean and bright...classic designs with just a whisper of more modern elements.
I love the large scale carrara marble they've chosen for the shower, and the timeless basket-weave tiles in matching carrara and black for the floor are amaaazing in person.    Happy Weekend!

Oh the pressure...of a name...

Is it completely ridiculous that sometimes I'll sit down to blog and then decide not to because I can't think up a title?

(but 100 points shall be given to you if you know what movie that title is from)

Here's a little of this and a dash of that...

Things have been clunking right along for us. I'm really thankful that Wes' treatment for TN seems to have helped. He still is having pain in one area, but we're hoping the nerve will continue to heal over the next few weeks and bring even more relief.

This wiley, wig-wearing little minx managed to pulled a super heavy dresser over onto herself on Saturday night, and only by the grace of God did she escape with just a bruised and sore leg.

We took her to get x-rays just in case, because I didn't see how her leg could be in once piece. That dresser is insanely heavy and I never thought it could tip over. Huge parenting fail, and we're in the process of bolting everything to the walls now. Everything. If you come over to visit, don't stand in one place for too long.

*******************************
Juliette went 5 days without waking up at night. I really thought we had made it. Almost 11 months old, she would finally sleep through the night...

She woke up 3 times last night just to make up for lost time.

*******************************
I'm working on some really fun and challenging design projects, both at my own house and someone else's...

 *****************************

I'm also doing the dessert table for the wedding of a super sweet couple from church. Here's my plan...and I'll show you pics of it all done on the big day...
Trying not to take such long breaks from writing!  Be back soon... xoxo

Cocktails, Anyone?

I'm having some major spring fever,
and with 70* degree days forecasted through the weekend
can you blame me?

Sometimes when it gets warm out, you don't want to pile on a bunch of accessories
that can make you sticky and hot.
But one statement piece can be just the ticket.

Take a bow, cocktail ring...you are a perfect example of this.
Here are some that have been catching my eye...

spring fever rings!

I love Nicole Richie's House of Harlow line, and her jewelry is no exception... the silver key ring is hers.
Kate Spade also has some fun pieces...like the white flowers & cute pink bow rings.
Any favorites??
