A good start...

I hope the week is off to a good beginning for everyone!

My husband works for a church, and unlike a common misconception, he works much more than just Sundays. Right now until they get a new staff member on board, he has a lot of evening obligations too. Since we aren't able to have a normal two-days off in a row weekend, sometimes our time as a family gets compressed into a few hours here, and a few hours there during the week.

But yesterday was a 100%  family day, and we had such a great time.

We made pink pancakes in the morning...

...which is going to have to be a new Valentine's Day tradition.

Then we went downtown to enjoy the gorgeous weather
we had here in Charleston yesterday.

I will never get tired of walking around all the little alley ways and cobblestone streets.
And when spring really moves in, and you get to peek through gates and fences
and see the secret, private gardens hidden behind the homes...it's heaven. I never want to move.

Enjoy your day friends!!

Etsy Love...

Here's my second edition of Etsy Love

I am SO enamored by the prints from Etsy seller Black Baroque

She takes vintage images and prints them on antique pages
taken from real books and dictionaries.
At only $10 per print, wouldn't they make a unique and inexpensive
 hostess gift / birthday present / it's-monday-and-I-want-to-buy-myself-something-splurge?

I would love to have a whole set of them to incorporate into the gallery wall
I plan on making (and showing you!) soon.

The black frames are just for display purposes...
they come in a clear sleeve (like the one below),
so you can frame them in any color or style that you choose.

These are just a tiny selection of what she has in her shop.
Go check out some of the special prints she made just for Valentine's Day here!

Date Night...

Here's a little Wednesday Wardrobe Board.
I think it would be perfect for my date with the hubs
to Barnes & Noble coming up on Saturday.
It's one of our favorite places to go together without the girls.
{we get wild and crazy, I know}
Starbucks and reading my favorite home & design magazines...delicious.

Pink and Red

What shall I blog about today, I asked myself.
{brain cells desperately trying to rub together}
 I thought, maybe I'll just list all the things I really like and use everyday?
Why the heck would anyone care about that, myself asked me.

True.

So I decided to list all the things I like that are pink and red
and pretend like it's a well-thought out post relating to valentines's day in some way.
{I know. Kind of lame-o. I'm just not feeling creative today}

Well after that enticing intro you're hooked like a fish, aren't you.
Can't look away.

Here you go anyway. Some things I love- In Pink & Red.

Diet Coke.

This is me:
That is all I need to say about that.

Neutrogena pink grapefruit scrub
Smells delicious. Exfoliates without being too rough. Love it.

Method pink grapefruit all-purpose spray
 Nothing's worse than a kitchen that smells all chemical-y,
like the inside of a janitor's closet.
This smells great and uses natural citrus oils to cleanse and sanitize.
I always get it at Target.

Burt's Bees pomegranate oil lip balm.
Super smooth, and soft without being sticky.
Pretty, sheer wash of color.
No weird, unidentifiable ingredients.
I have one of these in my purse and another in the girl's diaper bag. Definitely my favorite lip product.

Maybelline Great Lash mascara.
Every time a new mascara comes out I get sucked into the marketing and I buy it.
But I always come back to this classic.

Got this for Christmas from my sweet mother-in-law.
I am a compulsive ruffle purchaser. If it has ruffles...I want it.

It's almost bathing suit season here in Charleston.
I'm overwhelmed with excitement at the idea of showing my
birthed-two-babies loose bits in a few pieces of material.
If I can stop reading blogs and maybe work out more some, I think these might be contenders.

and this...

and this...

O-Glow blush
A bit pricey, but I've had the same tube foreeever.
A little goes a long way.
I have really dry skin in the winter,
 and putting blush on dry skin can look like a hot mess sometimes.
 But this is a gel, so it always looks natural.

And finally,
  {and this is going to horrify some of you that are all
 "I like to bake, and make everything from scratch, and me and martha are on a first name basis" and such}
But these...are my favorite.
You know the pillsbury slice-and-bake cookies that they have for every holiday?
Like snowmen in the winter, and four leaf clovers for St. patrick's day, and of course:

hearts for Valentine's Day...

I love them. LOVE THEM.
Most of the time I can't even wait for them to be done cooking
and I take them out when they're still really soft.
Like...really, really soft.
{does that sound better than me saying I eat them raw sometimes??}
{still be my friend?}

xoxo

Mad for Modcloth...

Keeping in line with this month of all things lovey and dovey...
How gorgeous are these dresses & tops?
Perfect for a Valentine's date, no?
I've never ordered anything from Modcloth, but I would gladly add all of these to my closet.
(you hear that, Modcloth!?)

valentines day

Spring Fever...

It is so glorious outside today.
For those of you who don't live in God's chosen city Charleston, sorry to rub it in.
It's at least 74 degrees right now.
So glorious in fact that I attempted to take both girls for a walk.
At the same time.
Alone

I know some of you are thinking to yourselves, "You only have two kids lady...pull yourself together...how hard can it be". And that is how I will know you have never met Charlotte, my 2 year old.
Because taking a walk with one Charlotte is like trying to take a walk with 17 gerbils...stressful, fast-paced, and someone's probably coming back with bite marks.

But the girls could use fresh air and I didn't go to all the trouble of putting my bra on for nothing, besides good parents do things like let their offspring out of the house on occasion.

 4 tantrums, 7 thrown rocks, 1 scraped knee, several pitying looks from neighbors, and 3 hissed threats of eternal time-out later...we turned around, walked six feet, and were back at our house.

Six feet totally counts. Score one for good parenting.
